About
The Blackdog Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit group designed to help assist in the recovery of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for returning veterans, their families, friends, and community.
Blackdog’s philosophy serves many in a community
•Veterans (from all eras) needing assistance with re-integration into their communities
•Veterans suffering from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and their families
•Children or young adults in conflict with peers or family members
•Those experiencing violence in need of protection, mediation or counseling
•Those struggling with meth addiction
Blackdog offers an alternative for veterans
•A non-traditional service based upon the principle of veterans helping veterans
•Grass-roots endeavor that embraces veterans and welcomes them into their communities
•Recognizes veterans’ skills, values, and what they have to offer the greater community
Blackdog reaches those not otherwise served
•Rural communities where no VA hospitals or vet centers exist and/or present a hardship to access
–Providing conflict resolution in community fringe areas that other services don’t reach
•Government agencies can’t do it all – federal, state and county bandwidth is limited
–Officials have little time and manpower for follow-up or processes for leaving a better legacy
•Law enforcement can only respond once there is a crime and/or a victim
–Punishment or other reactionary steps are in motion after things have already gotten out of hand
–Negative behaviors become entrenched and cycle continues or expands
